Some acrylic paintings I did throughout 113A class.
Early Sunday, my art 113A class went landscape painting at Monte Belle, near Palo Alto. It was bloody windy like a Hurricane up on the hill. So basically I was freezing like hell, sitting on thorny grasses painting for an hour until I couldn't stand the coldness. My hand was sooo frozen. It was a fun experience for the first time...but next time if I go landscape painting, I'll go when the weather is nice. Maybe I'll go back and define the shape more. Grayscale Master study of Wyeth's painting. My semi-first application of acrylic painting! Another go at painting still life in class. Next time I should sit more closer to the subject matter for better detail. At this point, I am still not used to acrylics. In here, I was taking a break from color grid (bloody hell i hate that project) and used the remaining paint to do something fun. Mostly complementary or analogous colors I think.. And it turned out to be Hikaru...and then Haruhi ^^;; Ah, I draw them waaaaaaay too much XD;;; Need to get back to oricharas that I've been igonoring... But still, love them!! Hikaru's dark hair suits him much better~ <3 I got better with the Haruhi after trying out Hikaru.
Painting with wet medium is fun~~ but I just really hate the cleaning part TAT;; Maybe I'll paint some more after this semester ends.
Number of Hours worked on this: Some 60-70+ hours. Some detail shots. I really like how the pattern turned out and the little tassel strings. Cameron Chun, our art instructor, was so nitpicky on every detail T__T;; I got a 91/100 I think. *emoes* Although that would make me want to try harder for the color part of this assignment, I''m feeling so lazy =w=;; Next, I'll post some color comps after we get it back.
Now onto Thanksgiving Break! Draw draw draw! (or for me, cg cg cg)
Feeling incompetent...I came home and did a quick painting... Referenced from Richard Schmid's All Prima. Not quite the same...because I tend to have an ideal head and skin shading in mind. I need to really go for some heavier brush stroke as I go along. Over the Winter Break I need to do some intense studying to prepare for my portfolio next semester! And also work on doujinshi ahead of time haha. Next I'll post my finished "B+/A-" B&W Rendering ORZ|||
Painting assignment.... We had to shoot a photo, get it approved after several reshoots and transfer the outline onto a gray painted illustration board and try to render as closely possible to the photo.
Original photo: Painting in progress with Acrylics. I have still 50% to go...Detail of the lace TAT;; Such a pain.
Tomorrow I need to spend all day doing this. Project due next week after this coming week @A@;;
Pulled out an Old Navy ad for reference. Sat down on the floor with my compact watercolor set and water-cartridge brush. Had "Transamerica" playing on the TV and went crazy with sketching and watercolor XD The other watercolor I worked on will be in my lj (for the meme request). It's quite fun to get away from digital stuff.
