Just film speedpaint studies for homework. Never watched the film tho but it looks interesting. I like the last one for its expressive brush stroke haha. I wish I had better color sense.

The lighting started to change when I was painting the curtain...so two different lighting situation haha. Wish I could capture the daylight version of the curtain....

117 life studies

I guess the fun thing about these studies is going out and looking for these old signs I never really paid attention to. My dad and I drove all the way from SJ to Mountain View just on El Camino Road. Quite the adventure. Now I cannot unsee old signage. Lovely designed compared to the ugly signs we have today that are boring. When I do renders for work, i think texturing is the fun part of it when I have the time.


My first drapery study! I never took Sheldon's advance class so I never got the chance to sit and study drapery. However, turning off the light with only the light source on the drapery and from my monitor, my eyes were practically going blind. This semester, I think my eyesight just worsen a lot.

Art 116 Illustration

Set built for the characters. We tested different lighting. I decided to combine the two.

Barron Storey's Conceptual Illustration project. We had to create 6 characters based on ourselves, design an environment they live in, and then make an illustration of a climatic moment. Very fun. I would love to use the characters again if I ever make my own story haha. Characters/Story is a blend of Chinese/WW1/1930s culture.

Kangaroooooooooo

We did animal drawing for 6 weeks? D: Michelle took me to the SF Zoo every Saturday. I guess its kinda fun to draw with other people. But those darn kangaroos mostly just sit around out of sight! Also SF is freezing!!!

Basically painting over a random photo for the colors and making up random architecture structure you see in all those concept art. I used the top of the submarine for shape idea.

Stubborn pinky

See anything wrong with this fist?

My pinky cannot go down with the rest T__T;; Its also a hassle to draw with. I only learned how not all hands are like this after looking at my co-workers' hands. (we did hand examination during lunch :P) All this time I've been using my own hand for drawing reference. After watching Star Trek, I can't even make a freakin Vulcan sign T__T;;; This pinky refuse to touch the other fingers when they are straight. Too much strain to even get it to touch XD;;
